 Limerick Racecourse, a premier destination for horse racing in Ireland, opened its state-of-the-art track in October 2001. Since then, it has attracted large crowds eager to enjoy thrilling days of competitive horse racing. Located just six miles south of Limerick city off the M20 motorway, the racecourse features a right-handed oval track spanning over a mile and three furlongs. 

Limerick Racecourse hosts 18 race meetings throughout the year, including weekends, weekdays, and bank holidays. Among its highlights are the summer evening meetings, featuring live music after the races, and the Christmas Festival. This annual four-day event, starting on St. Stephen's Day, includes the prestigious Grade 1 Faugheen Novice Chase  and several Grade 2 races, making it a must-visit for horse racing enthusiasts.

Another standout event is the Munster National Weekend, held in late October. This two-day meeting features the JT McNamara Ladbrokes Munster National Handicap Steeplechase (Grade A), a race that draws thousands of fans each year. For flat racing enthusiasts, the Listed Martin Molony Stakes in June stands out as the most valuable and eagerly awaited race on the calendar.

Limerick's four-day Christmas Festival takes place from 26th - 29th December 2024, and promises plenty of glamour, festivities, music, entertainment and of course top-class Jumps Racing. It's the perfect place for some post-Christmas fun & socialising!

Highlights on the track include the Doran's Pride Grade 2 Novice Hurdle on Day 1,  the Dawn Run Grade 2 Novice Steeplechase on Day 2, and the Grade 1 Faugheen Novice Steeplechase & Listed Handicap Steeplechase on Day 3.

The final day of the Festival is Family Fun Day where there will be children's amusements, entertainers and much more!

Day 1 of the ‘King John’s Castle Festival’ kicks off in fine style with 7 top class national hunt races on the card. The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Cailin Alainn Mares Hurdle of €27,500 and the Greenmount Novice Hurdle of €25,000 are set to attract strong entries.

Day 2 offers another thrilling 7 national hunt races on the card including the STL Handicap Chase worth €45,000. The feature of the day is the €100,000 Grade 3 JT McNamara Ladbrokes Munster National Handicap Steeplechase, the pinnacle race of the festival.
