HRI Education Days for Kids

The objective of HRI Racing Juniors Education Days is to build a link between the racecourses and their local community and to encourage an affinity with horses among the younger generation.

Local school children, accompanied by their teachers are brought behind the scenes at their local racetrack where they meet the team and some racing personalities. Each day is targeted at 5th and 6th class pupils and is free to attend.

Some of the jockeys that children have previously heard from include Rachael Blackmore, David Mullins, Danny Mullins, Ronan Whelan, Derek O'Connor and Conor Maxwell. Typically, the school children and their teacher also meet a racehorse to learn about what it takes to look after and train a racehorse.

There are also several other stations which vary from racecourse to racecourse but generally include RACE, (Racing Academy & Centre of Education) which includes a demonstration on a mechanical horse, horse-racing education, a course walk to see the hurdles and or stalls and a farrier who shows the children how they make horse-shoes.

Particpating racecourses will reach out to their local schools to attend their education day. However if you would like your school to take part, please email us and we can pass your school details to the racecourses.

Places are limited.
