HRI transitions to HVO fuel for racecourse vehicles
Thursday, 12 December 2024
HRI has launched its transition to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel for racecourse vehicles, with Fairyhouse Racecourse being the first track to roll out this initiative, marking their commitment to sustainability.
HVO is a low-carbon biofuel that serves as a direct replacement for regular diesel. It is a high-quality biofuel derived from used oils and fats that is treated with hydrogen. The reuse of this waste product means that HVO has carbon footprint that is at least 65% lower than conventional fossil fuel (diesel oil).
Following HRI’s procurement of fuel storage tanks from Carbery Plastics and sourcing the HVO from Certa, HRI racecourses can now avail of this low-carbon alternative to diesel.
