Raised on the Curragh, Michael Grassick is a third generation trainer following on from his late grandfather Christy and his Group 1-winning father Michael.
Michael served as assistant to his father for many years before taking over the training licence in early 2013. A graduate of the Irish National Stud course in 2005, he gained valuable experience working in Melbourne, Australia.
Michael's first winner was the David Casey-ridden Only Exception in the Bet Online At Thetote.com Mares Maiden Hurdle at Ballinrobe in July 2013 and his first winner on the Flat was Texas Rock, ridden by Niall McCullagh, at Down Royal a year later.
Texas Rock, which Michael bred himself, was a six-time winner for the stable and notably landed the Listed Owenstown Stud Stakes at Naas in May 2017 and the Listed Waterford Testimonial Stakes at Navan in October of the same year.
Michael's richest success to date came when Verhoyen won the Tote Scurry Handicap at the Curragh in July 2019.
