Did you know:

From Dunsany, County Meath, Danny Benson began his racing career as an apprentice on the Flat and rode his first winner at the age of 16 on Kardyls Hope for Jarlath Fahey in an apprentice handicap at Cork in October of 2010. He had earlier ridden in pony races for a few seasons and had begun riding out for Ger Lyons at weekends and during school holidays when he was was just 13. With his weight rising, Danny switched his attentions to the jumping game and spent a year in England with Jonjo O’Neill before taking time away from the sport with 22 winners under his belt. He started back riding out for Noel Meade in the middle of 2016 and when Nina Carberry announced that she was taking time out to start a family, he signed up with the Castletown trainer as his stable amateur and the winners began to flow again.
