Originally from Denmark, Dot Love's background was in three-day eventing rather than in racing. A clerical error prevented her from representing Denmark in the Seoul Olympics in 1988. 

Dot took out her licence in 2001 and combined training with a pre-training business. She sent out her first winner when her assistant trainer Ciaran Murphy partnered I'm On The Line to win a bumper at Kilbeggan in June, 2001. Her greatest moment came with Ben Dalton scored a 50/1 shock on Liberty Counsel in the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse in 2013. 

Dot retired from the training ranks in January, 2021. She wrapped up her career with two winners from her final three runners, with Betty Zane landing the bumper at Cork on Saturday, January 2 under Aaron Murphy, a brother of Ciaran Murphy's, and the Sarah Kavanagh-ridden Flindt winning the lady riders' handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse the following afternoon, her 76th and final winner. 

Ciaran Murphy took over the licence and continues to train from Charlestown Stud on the outskirts of Mullingar.
