Did you know?

A son of Curragh trainer Philip, Luke Dempsey switched his attentions to the National Hunt side of the game early in his career. He was 16 when he rode his first winner on King Of Dudes in a 10-furlong handicap at Navan in October, 2012 and rode 18 winners on the Flat in all. Luke partnered his first winner over hurdles when On My Own scored in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Killarney in August, 2014.

Luke rode the biggest winner of his career to date when landing the 2019 thetote.com Galway Plate on the Gordon Elliott-trained Borice. The 9/1 chance was Elliott's third winner of the race in four years.

Earlier in his career, he created a little bit of history when partnering Willie Mullins' record eighth winner at the same Cheltenham Festival in 2015. Luke won the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle on Killultagh Vic, his first winner at the meeting. 

Dempsey also enjoyed notable success on the likes of Spider Web in the Munster National Handicap Chase, Tempo Mac at the Punchestown festival, Empire Of Dirt and Mallards In Flight (another Punchestown festival winner).
